Telecom giant readies network and relief operations for Luzon’s multiple storms
Globe Telecom is on high alert as Typhoon Ofel threatens to cross Luzon, prepositioning essential supplies and personnel in affected areas. With backup power generators and batteries in place for potential outages, the company is ensuring its network resilience and quick restoration in the face of severe weather.
“We are fully prepared for the impact of Typhoon Ofel,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe chief sustainability and corporate communications officer. “Our network facilities are designed to withstand disruptions, and our teams are ready to respond swiftly to maintain service.”
In addition to preparing for Ofel, Globe has made significant strides in restoring services following the damage from Typhoon Nika, which hit the northeastern Philippines earlier this week. Restoration efforts have been successful in provinces like Batanes, La Union, and Pangasinan, with work continuing in several other impacted regions.
In its ongoing disaster response, Globe has also activated Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging, and Libreng WiFi stations across Northern Luzon. These services aim to provide vital communication support to communities hit by Typhoon Marce, and will remain operational until power is fully restored. Affected areas include Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and parts of Batanes, among others.
Globe also encourages customers to support relief efforts through donations via the GlobeOne app.
