Kyleson partners with First Gen for clean energy supply to Colours Town Center

Kyleson Incorporated, a retail and general merchandise firm, has signed an agreement with Lopez-owned First Gen Corporation to supply electricity from renewable sources to its Colours Town Center, a mixed-use commercial hub located in Las Piñas City. The deal, finalized recently, marks a significant milestone for both companies, as it is the first supply agreement Kyleson has entered into since qualifying for the government’s Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) program in October.

Under the agreement, Colours Town Center will receive 600 kilowatts (kW) of power from First Gen’s Pantabangan-Casecnan hydroelectric plants in Nueva Ecija. These facilities, which harness the power of water to generate electricity, are part of First Gen’s clean energy portfolio, aimed at promoting sustainable and renewable power solutions.

“We’re very excited for our partnership with First Gen,” said Kingson Chan, Kyleson’s corporate secretary. “This is a big step for us in helping the environment, transitioning to renewable energy, and we look forward to many more years of collaboration.”

The Colours Town Center, which features a blend of retail outlets, entertainment facilities, dining options, and flexible office spaces, will now operate with a cleaner energy footprint. The center also houses a Regus-managed workspace for businesses seeking flexible office solutions.

The RCOA program, introduced by the government, allows businesses like Kyleson to select their own electricity suppliers, provided they meet a monthly peak demand of at least 500 kW over the past year. By choosing First Gen as its energy provider, Kyleson not only secures cost-efficient electricity but also commits to reducing the carbon footprint of its operations through renewable power sources.

Carlo Vega, First Gen’s vice president for power marketing, trading, and economics, emphasized the significance of the agreement: “With Kyleson choosing their own power supplier, they can secure electricity at competitive rates while also drastically reducing their carbon footprint. We’re committed to supporting Kyleson on their decarbonization journey and are excited to be a part of their sustainability efforts.”

First Gen is the country’s largest producer of renewable energy, with an installed capacity of 1,651 megawatts (MW) from its solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal power plants. The company also operates natural gas-powered plants, which play a crucial role in ensuring the country’s energy security while transitioning to a decarbonized future.

As businesses like Kyleson continue to prioritize sustainability, the partnership between Kyleson and First Gen reflects a growing trend of companies embracing cleaner energy sources as part of their corporate social responsibility and environmental goals.
