CleanTech Global developing 451 MW solar project in Pangasinan

Renewable energy firm CleanTech Global Renewables Inc. subsidiary Tera Renewables 7 Corp. is pursuing a 451.38 MW solar project in Labrador, Pangasinan, marking a key expansion in the Philippines’ clean energy sector. The project, known as the Labrador 1 Solar Power Project, is estimated to cost P17.62 billion spanning over 296.45 hectares. It is slated for completion by 2026.

According to an environmental impact statement filed with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the solar farm will feature photovoltaic panels, inverters, and a control monitoring system that will connect to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ Bolo substation. The project will be executed in two phases, with prioritization based on land acquisition progress.

Tera Renewables plans to hire over 1,000 workers, with a preference for local labor. This initiative aligns with CleanTech’s ongoing push to enhance renewable energy capacity, following the completion of multiple solar ventures including a 133 MW joint venture with ACEN Corp. and a 22 MW project in Bulacan. The company is also actively developing other solar projects in Pangasinan and Cagayan.

This move is consistent with the Department of Energy’s goals to boost solar power’s share in the national energy mix, which stood at 8.6% by end-November 2024.
