Appdome launches AI malware shield for mobile apps

Appdome, a leading mobile app security firm, has unveiled new Detect Agentic AI Malware plugins designed to combat the emerging threat of Agentic AI Assistants being weaponized by attackers. These dynamic defense tools empower enterprises and mobile brands to identify, monitor, and block unauthorized AI applications—including popular platforms like ChatGPT, Siri, Google Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot—from interacting with sensitive mobile data or systems on Android and iOS.

As AI assistants grow in enterprise and consumer use, so does the risk: malicious variants, or “Agentic AI Malware,”can mimic legitimate functionality to hijack sessions, exfiltrate credentials, or spy on user interactions. The plugins offer real-time behavioral detection and granular control, enabling organizations to differentiate between trusted and unauthorized AI agents—even detecting unofficial or re-skinned clones that often request dangerous permissions.

Appdome’s CEO Tom Tovar emphasized the criticality of giving mobile enterprises the “choice and control” over AI integration, while CTO Avi Yehuda reinforced that mobile systems can’t judge intent—only allow or deny access.

By equipping mobile apps with this AI-specific threat elimination capability, Appdome not only fortifies compliance and data security but also strengthens corporate resilience against AI-driven espionage and fraud. As threats evolve, the Detect Agentic AI Malware plugin marks a strategic security layer for organizations safeguarding high-value, regulated apps—such as banking, healthcare, and enterprise communications—from AI-assisted compromise.
