Tanduay profit soars 91% in 1H25, boosting market and corporate strength

Tanduay Distillers, Inc. (TDI), the liquor and spirits subsidiary of LT Group, Inc. (LTG), posted a 91 percent surge in net income for the first half of 2025, signaling a significant uplift in its financial and market performance. Net income reached P1.36 billion, nearly double the P712 million recorded in the same period last year.

This strong growth was underpinned by improved margins and disciplined cost control. Revenues rose 4 percent to P15.25 billion, driven by higher selling prices in the liquor segment, while the cost of sales remained flat at P12.62 billion. As a result, gross profit margin improved to 17 percent from 14 percent a year earlier. Operating expenses declined by 17 percent to P886 million, largely due to reduced marketing and promotional costs.

Commercially, Tanduay strengthened its leadership in the Philippine distilled spirits market, increasing its nationwide market share to 38 percent from 33 percent in 2024. It continued to dominate in key regions, capturing 68.3 percent market share in the Visayas and 81 percent in Mindanao.

“This milestone reflects the strength of the Tanduay brand and the loyalty of our consumers,” said TDI president and CEO Lucio Tan III, citing operational efficiency and brand building as key drivers.

Tanduay’s performance contributed to parent company LTG’s 17 percent year-on-year rise in attributable net income, which reached P14.97 billion—marking its second-best first-half showing since its public listing.

Founded in 1854, Tanduay has also maintained its position as the world’s top-selling rum by volume for eight consecutive years, according to Drinks International, selling 23.8 million case liters in 2024. Its global expansion continues with presence in major international markets, including the U.S., U.K., China, and Germany.

Tanduay’s robust half-year results reinforce its status as both a national market leader and a globally competitive brand, with momentum for further domestic and international growth.
