DITO backs Konektadong Pinoy Law, cites business and security opportunities

DITO Telecommunity Corp. announced Thursday it will not oppose the newly enacted Konektadong Pinoy Act, choosing instead to participate actively in shaping its implementing rules and regulations (IRR), particularly on cybersecurity and service standards.

“Since the government has allowed it to become part of the law of the land, then it’s clear what the policy is… I’m not going to fight that policy. Instead, I will support it,” said Adel Tamano, DITO chief revenue officer, during the launch of the company’s new campaign, Kaya DITO.

Tamano emphasized the need for the telecom sector’s involvement in drafting the IRR to help ensure national cybersecurity and high-quality connectivity. “I think the Konektadong Pinoy can be very positive… business-wise,” he added.

The law, which lapsed into effect on 24 August 2025, aims to expand digital access nationwide. DITO views this as aligned with its goal of disrupting the industry through next-generation infrastructure.

Rodolfo Santiago, DITO chief technology officer, highlighted the company’s early investment in a full 5G Standalonenetwork, differentiating it from rivals still relying on upgraded legacy systems. “This decision allows us to provide Filipinos with the real 5G experience,” Santiago said.

Echoing this, DITO president Eric Alberto framed the company’s mission as a break from the industry’s legacy of unreliable and overpriced services. “Every Filipino has limitless potential when equipped with the right tools,” he said, noting that Kaya DITO represents a movement for digital inclusivity.

DITO’s commitment to infrastructure-led disruption has already gained recognition, with OpenSignal naming it the country’s fastest network.
