Lender highlights estate planning in “Legacy Unlocked” series

In anticipation of a major generational wealth transfer among Filipino families, EastWest Bank brought estate and succession planning to the forefront through its exclusive event series, “Legacy Unlocked: The Power of Planning for Generations.”

Held at Solaire Resort North and Manila Hotel, the sessions convened top clients, entrepreneurs, and business owners across Metro Manila. Organized by EastWest’s Branch Banking Group, the event emphasized the critical role of legacy planning in preserving family wealth and ensuring long-term business continuity.

EastWest CEO Jerry Ngo opened the event, underlining the urgency of preparing for the “Great Wealth Transfer”—a global shift as assets pass to Gen X, millennials, and Gen Z. Ngo encouraged clients to view estate planning not just as a financial exercise, but as a leadership tool to equip heirs with clarity and confidence.

Renowned estate planning expert Leo Cabrera, founder of AMC Law and chairman emeritus of the Wealth Management Center, served as guest speaker. He shared legal frameworks and family governance strategies essential to safeguarding generational wealth.

EastWest branch banking head Ivy Uy reiterated the bank’s commitment to empowering clients through curated learning experiences, noting that well-prepared successors are more capable of sustaining and growing their legacy.

“Legacy Unlocked” aligns with EastWest’s relationship-focused approach, helping clients build enduring strategies for wealth creation, succession, and long-term preservation. The Bank aims to expand these high-impact engagements to support families navigating the complexities of estate planning.
