CAB keeps fuel surcharge at Level 4 for October

The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has kept the fuel surcharge at Level 4 for the third consecutive month this October.

In an advisory, CAB stated that passenger and cargo fuel surcharges for both domestic and international flights will remain at Level 4 from October 1 to 31.

Under Level 4, domestic passenger fuel surcharges range from ₱117 to ₱342 depending on distance, while international flight surcharges range from ₱385.70 to ₱2,867.82. For cargo, airlines can charge between ₱0.60 to ₱1.76 per kilogram domestically, and ₱1.98 to ₱14.74 per kilogram internationally.

CAB emphasized that airlines must file applications to impose fuel surcharges within the set period, with rates not exceeding Level 4 limits.

The surcharge is optional, allowing airlines to offset rising fuel costs amid fluctuating prices.

According to the International Air Transport Association, average jet fuel prices stood at $90.81 per barrel as of September 19, down 8.3% from last year.
