Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced Friday the launch of a new international route connecting Cebu and Guam with nonstop flights beginning December 16, 2025. The thrice-weekly service will be the only direct air link between the two destinations, enhancing connectivity between the central Philippines and the U.S. Pacific territory.
The new route strengthens PAL’s position as the leading carrier between Guam and Southeast Asia, complementing the existing daily Manila–Guam flights and expanding its international network beyond the Philippine capital.
“This new service enhances Cebu’s role as a strategic gateway to international markets, while providing Guam’s large Filipino community and travelers from the U.S. Pacific territory direct access to the Visayas and Mindanao regions,” said PAL president Richard Nuttall. “It reflects our commitment to growing our network and supporting economic and tourism flows between the Philippines and Guam.”
The service underscores PAL’s ongoing efforts to boost regional accessibility and meet growing demand for more convenient travel options between the Philippines and key global markets.
Aboitiz Infracapital Cebu Airport Corporation CEO Athanasios Titonis welcomed the development, highlighting its economic impact. “We are delighted to bring back direct flights to the United States with the launch of the Cebu–Guam route,” he said. “This route not only makes island-to-island travel faster and more efficient but also creates a stronger gateway for visitors from the U.S. Pacific territories and Asia, boosting tourism and economic exchange for both destinations.”
From Cebu, PAL operates direct international flights to Ho Chi Minh, Tokyo Narita, Osaka, and Seoul Incheon, along with extensive domestic services. The new Guam route will offer same-day connections to and from key cities in the Visayas and Mindanao, including Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, and Siargao.
Guam, where nearly 30 percent of the population is of Filipino descent, serves as an important node in PAL’s broader U.S. network, which includes services to Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Seattle, and Honolulu.
PAL’s historical ties to Guam date back to July 31, 1946, when it became Asia’s first airline to serve the U.S. mainland via its pioneering trans-Pacific service. The new Cebu–Guam flights mark a continuation of that legacy—bridging communities, expanding regional access, and supporting both business and leisure travel.
