₱7.3B BCIB contract draws eight bidders

Eight qualified contractors, including D.M. Consunji, EEI Corp., and several Chinese firms, submitted financial bids for Contract Package 1 (CP1) of the ₱7.3 billion Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB) project, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Tuesday.

Leading the bids was China Harbour Engineering Co. with ₱4.87 billion, followed by Beijing Urban Construction Group Co. Ltd. and China Wu Yi Co., Ltd., both with ₱5.87 billion. Other offers were from Shou Road and Bridge Group (₱6.002 billion), Human Road & Bridge–China Civil Engineering JV (₱6.52 billion), POSCO E&C–Sta. Clara JV (₱7.04 billion), EEI–PMI JV (₱7.19 billion), and D.M. Consunji (₱7.82 billion).

CP1 involves the 6.89-kilometer Bataan land approach of the BCIB. Proposals are subject to further evaluation, with final selection based on the highest combined technical and financial scores.

The BCIB, a flagship ₱221-billion (US$3.9 billion) infrastructure project, spans approximately 32 km and will link Bataan and Cavite via a combination of land viaducts, marine bridges, and cable-stayed structures. The project is divided into seven packages, with construction set to begin on the Bataan (CP1) and Cavite (CP2) land approaches.

Once completed, the BCIB will cut travel time between Bataan and Cavite from 5.5 hours to just 45 minutes, easing congestion in Metro Manila and providing a critical north-south link for Central Luzon, NCR, and CALABARZON. It will also serve as a vital evacuation route in times of natural disasters.
