GSIS extends aid to quake-hit Cebu members

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) announced its readiness to assist members and pensioners in Bogo and other quake-hit areas in Cebu, following the recent magnitude 6.9 earthquake that caused structural damage and disrupted daily life.

GSIS president and general manager Wick Veloso assured affected government workers and retirees that the agency stands with them during this challenging time. “We are ready to provide immediate financial relief so they can recover from the impact of the earthquake,” Veloso said.

GSIS will open its Emergency Loan Program to qualified members and pensioners in Cebu. Eligible applicants may borrow up to ₱40,000 if they have an existing emergency loan, or ₱20,000 if they have none. The loan, payable over 36 months, carries a low 6 percent annual interest rate, with the first payment due after three months.

Loan proceeds will be credited directly to borrowers’ ATM cards. Applications can be submitted via the GSIS Touch mobile app, GWAPS kiosks, or the GSIS e-service portals.

GSIS is also working with local government units and branch offices in Cebu to ensure uninterrupted access to claims, benefits, and other services. Veloso encouraged members to use the GSIS Touch app for safer and more convenient transactions during the recovery period.
