Maya activates Google Pay for credit cards in PH

Maya has become one of the first banks in the Philippines to bring Google Pay support to its credit cards, opening the door for Android users to make quick, contactless payments anywhere Visa or Mastercard is accepted worldwide.

Maya credit card holders can add their cards to Google Wallet and tap their phones at any NFC terminal, with the feature set to be integrated directly into the Maya app soon.

The company plans to extend Google Pay compatibility to its prepaid cards next, aiming to create a single, seamless tap-to-pay experience across different card types and platforms. Backed by Visa-grade tokenization, the system encrypts card details and verifies transactions in real time, offering global-level security.

The launch strengthens Maya’s position as a leader in frictionless payments, building on its end-to-end digital banking and payments ecosystem. Google Philippines expressed support for the rollout, calling it part of its push for faster, safer digital transactions and broader financial inclusion.

With the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas reporting that digital payments now make up 57 percent of retail transactions, Maya expects tap-to-pay usage to accelerate as more NFC terminals appear across the country. The move signals a major shift in how Filipinos will pay—combining mobile convenience with global card acceptance and powering the next wave of digital payment growth.
