Aboitiz Foods didn’t close the year with grandstanding. Instead, the regional agribusiness player wrapped it up with steady, on-the-ground action—rolling out community initiatives across the Philippines and China that underscored a quieter point: sustainably feeding Asia’s growth also means investing in the people behind the food.
Carried out through its producer brands Pilmico and Gold Coin, the year-end initiatives focused on food security, health, education, and social inclusion. While anchored on the company’s brand promise, Together we nourish the future, the programs leaned less on slogans and more on showing up where needs were clearest.
“Our responsibility goes beyond the food value chain,” said Joeben Gamatero, vice president for brand and reputation management and agribusiness marketing at Aboitiz Foods. “When communities thrive, the business becomes stronger, more resilient, and more relevant.”
In the Philippines, that thinking translated into direct engagement with host communities. In Iligan City, Aboitiz Foods employees volunteered to support Badjao students, pediatric patients, and new mothers. Families received essential food items, school supplies, hygiene kits, and holiday care packages—timely support for groups facing social and health challenges during the year-end period.
The company also leaned into longer-term needs. Through the AuroraPH program, implemented with Aboitiz Foundation, Aboitiz Power, and the Department of Education, five last-mile schools received solar-powered classrooms, Starlink internet connectivity, and digital learning tools. The upgrades were designed to improve access to education in areas where power and connectivity remain unreliable.
In Central Luzon, Aboitiz Foods extended support to communities near its feedmill, farm, and meat operations in Tarlac and Nueva Ecija. Grocery packs were distributed, hot meals were served, and modest community gatherings were held—reaching nearly 900 residents and reinforcing ties with local partners and host communities.
The outreach extended beyond the Philippines. In Dongshan Town, Yunnan Province, Gold Coin China–Guangxi supported elderly residents by distributing care packages containing staples such as rice and cooking oil to 145 beneficiaries, including persons with disabilities. The area faces challenges linked to limited arable land and the outmigration of younger residents, leaving many seniors vulnerable. By sourcing supplies locally and coordinating with village committees, the initiative addressed immediate needs while supporting the local economy.
Taken together, the initiatives align with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including zero hunger, good health and well-being, and reduced inequalities. More broadly, they reflect how Aboitiz Foods is closing the year—quietly building trust, strengthening partnerships, and pairing growth with responsibility across the region.
