The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has warned the public to be alert against scams involving fake airline ticket sellers and unauthorized agents posing as airline partners.
In an advisory, CAB said it has received reports of individuals offering tickets at misleading prices, claiming to be connected to airlines or accredited travel agencies, and asking for payment through unofficial channels.
CAB said these schemes can result in invalid or fake bookings, extra charges, or disrupted travel plans, weakening consumer protection.
The regulator urged passengers to buy tickets only through official airline websites, apps, ticket offices, or accredited travel partners to ensure valid bookings, secure payments, and transparent fares.
The warning follows a recent case involving Cebu Pacific, which canceled several bookings after discovering they were made using stolen or fraudulent credit cards. Authorities found that scammers converted these bookings into travel funds and resold tickets illegally through unauthorized channels.
CAB reiterated its commitment to fair and lawful air transport services and advised travelers to exercise extreme caution to avoid falling victim to online ticket scams.
