High food prices worry Filipinos the most

Affordable food prices, corruption, and jobs are the top issues Filipinos want government leaders to address in their communities, according to a Stratbase-commissioned Pulse Asia survey conducted from December 12 to 15, 2025.

The nationwide survey found that 38 percent of respondents said making food prices more affordable is the most urgent priority. This was followed by reducing or eliminating corruption to improve government services at 31 percent, and creating more jobs and livelihood opportunities at 21 percent. These concerns ranked highest across regions and socio-economic groups.

The results show that many Filipinos see rising food costs, lack of jobs, and corruption as closely connected. While food prices emerged as the top concern, corruption ranked alongside economic issues, reflecting public belief that poor governance directly affects daily expenses, access to services, and employment.

Stratbase Group founder and CEO Prof. Victor Andres Manhit said the findings show Filipinos view corruption not just as a moral issue, but as an economic one that has real impacts on everyday life.
