Fuel prices seen rising by more than P1 per liter this week

Motorists should expect another big increase in fuel prices this Tuesday, with some products likely going up by more than P1 per liter.

Jetti Petroleum Inc. said gasoline prices may rise by about P0.90 to P1.10 per liter, while diesel could increase by around P1.80 to P2 per liter. The company said the expected hikes are based on last week’s global crude oil trading.

Jetti president Leo Bellas said the increases are driven by continued volatility in the global oil market. He cited rising crude and refined fuel prices due to geopolitical tensions involving Venezuela, Iran, and the Black Sea region.

Bellas also pointed to protests in Iran and concerns over possible U.S. involvement, which have raised fears of disruptions in oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s most important oil routes. Recent drone attacks on Western-operated oil tankers in the Black Sea have further added to supply worries.

Meanwhile, Department of Energy Oil Industry Management Bureau Director Rodela Romero said DOE monitoring last week shows kerosene prices could also rise by as much as P1 per liter.

The expected increases follow last week’s fuel price hikes of P0.30 per liter for gasoline and kerosene, and P0.20 per liter for diesel.

So far this year, fuel prices have posted net increases of P0.20 per liter for gasoline and P0.40 per liter each for diesel and kerosene.

As of January 13 to 19, 2026, fuel prices in Metro Manila average P54.10 per liter for gasoline, P54.40 for diesel, and P78.85 for kerosene.
