Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) is positioning its newly launched Outlander PHEV as a premium electrified SUV for tech-savvy “quiet luxury” buyers, strengthening the automaker’s push to expand electric mobility in the Philippines.
The P2.85-million Outlander PHEV targets upper-middle to upper-income consumers, particularly corporate executives, professionals, and business owners in their 40s and 50s who have access to home charging.
MMPC said these buyers want the benefits of electric driving for daily trips without giving up the range, versatility, all-wheel-drive capability, and ground clearance of a gasoline-powered SUV.
The company described its target customers as “quiet luxury seekers” who want premium features without the maintenance costs associated with European luxury brands.
The Outlander PHEV is offered in a single variant and three colors, White Diamond, Red Diamond, and Black Diamond. An introductory price of P2.749 million is available until Sept. 30, 2026.
MMPC declined to disclose its sales target, expected market share, initial inventory, or the number of additional models it plans to launch through 2027.
“The launch of the All-New Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is definitely an important milestone in MMPC’s electrification journey,” the company said, describing the model as a sign of its commitment to bringing advanced electrified technologies to Filipino customers.
MMPC also sees stronger potential for electrified SUVs than sedans as Philippine consumers prioritize higher ground clearance and versatility for local road conditions.
The automaker said SUVs can provide greater confidence when navigating flooded or uneven roads, particularly during the rainy season.
MMPC President Ritsu Imaeda said the Outlander PHEV represents the company’s future as it develops mobility solutions around changing customer needs.
“Make no mistake. This is not just another PHEV. This is a true Mitsubishi SUV,” Imaeda said, highlighting its combination of electric driving capability and utility.
The model uses plug-in hybrid technology to provide electric driving for daily use while retaining a gasoline engine to address range concerns on longer trips, positioning it as a bridge between conventional SUVs and fully electric vehicles.
