PNB expands ISO information security certification, includes Singapore branch

The Philippine National Bank has passed its surveillance audit for the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 information security standard and expanded the coverage of its certification, reinforcing its efforts to protect customer and business data.

The audit was conducted by the British Standards Institution (BSI). Under the updated certification, additional business units of the bank are now included, reflecting continued improvements in how the lender manages and secures information across its operations.

A key milestone is the inclusion of PNB’s Singapore branch. The bank said this makes it the first Philippine bank with an overseas branch to achieve the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification for international operations, showing that the same security standards are applied both locally and abroad.

PNB president and CEO Edwin R. Bautista said the certification highlights the bank’s focus on trust and responsibility in handling sensitive information.

The bank added that the broader certification strengthens its risk management practices and helps it prepare for evolving cyber threats, supporting safer and more secure banking services for customers and partners.
