NLEX Corporation has started major improvement works on the Meycauayan River Bridge along the North Luzon Expressway to upgrade the road surface and fix potential potholes before the rainy season.
According to NLEX president and general manager and Luis S. Reñon, motorists should expect possible travel delays while construction is ongoing. He said the project aims to ensure smoother and safer travel once the repairs are completed.
To allow the repair work, one lane will be closed on weekdays, with only a single lane closed at a time. However, all four lanes will remain open during weekend rush hours to ease traffic.
A northbound compensating lane has also been set up on the East Service Road between Ever Memorial Park and Libtong in Meycauayan for vehicles heading north.
Once repairs on the northbound side are finished, work will shift to the southbound lanes. During that stage, a counterflow scheme will be implemented for Manila-bound motorists, while the East Service Road will continue serving northbound traffic.
Traffic marshals and directional signs will be deployed to guide drivers. Motorists can also check alternate routes through the official social media pages of NLEX Corporation.
The Meycauayan River Bridge improvement project is expected to be completed before the Holy Week travel period, when traffic on the expressway usually increases.
