Italian luxury furniture finds stylish Filipino audience

If your idea of a dream bedroom includes a bed that costs about as much as a small car, welcome to the rarefied world of Italian luxury furniture, where comfort is expected but craftsmanship takes the spotlight.

Italian furniture house Turri is quietly making its presence felt among Filipino design aficionados through its partnership with Philippine distributor Moda Interni.

Since 2022, Turri’s handcrafted collections have been displayed at Moda Interni’s showroom in Quezon City, giving homeowners, architects, and property developers a glimpse of Italian design heritage. The pieces are meant to do more than fill a room. They are designed to define it.

For Moda Interni President Goldwin Sison, the brand’s appeal lies in timeless design paired with a distinctly personal touch.

“Turri represents a legacy of design and craftsmanship that resonates with clients who value long-term quality and refined aesthetics,” Sison said. He added that many of the brand’s pieces can be customized to match a client’s design vision.

Among Turri’s crowd favorites locally is the Blues collection, a modern luxury line known for its sleek silhouettes and richly layered materials. Beds from the collection can range from around P2 million to P3.5 million depending on size, upholstery, and bespoke finishes such as leather or fabric. In the world of high design, beauty often comes with a few extra zeroes.

According to Luca Meduri, Turri’s Asia-Pacific sales director, the brand’s global philosophy rests on three pillars. These are collaborations with internationally renowned designers, a commitment to 100 percent Made-in-Italy production, and a blend of artisanal craftsmanship with premium materials.

Moda Interni’s showroom currently features about 15 collections created by eight international designers. The display serves as a curated introduction to Turri’s design identity.

Each piece often combines leather, fabric, marble, glass, and wood. Intricate detailing reflects the company’s century-old craft tradition.

Even with modern machinery involved in production, Meduri stressed that the human touch remains essential. “Even when using the latest machinery and new technology, the artisan touch is always essential,” he said.

Customization is also part of the luxury experience. Clients can tailor pieces to suit specific design or spatial requirements. Production and delivery typically take five to six months after an order is confirmed.

Jenica Chuahiock, digital marketing manager of Moda Interni, said Filipino interest in Italian luxury design remains strong despite the premium pricing.

“There’s a big demand for Italian design in general,” she said. “Price can be a factor, but many clients genuinely appreciate the craftsmanship.”

In the world of luxury interiors, Filipinos are discovering something connoisseurs have long known. Like fine wine or couture fashion, great design rewards those willing to wait.
