Nickel Asia Corp. (NAC), through its renewable energy arm Emerging Power Inc. (EPI), aims to raise its total operational power capacity to 458 megawatts (MW) by the end of 2026, up from 293 MW expected by end-2025.
The company said at least two solar projects will begin operating this year. It also has 280 MW of projects under construction and 227 MW in early development.
Among key projects, the first 120 MW phase of the San Isidro solar project in Leyte is set to start commercial operations by the second quarter. A second 120 MW phase will be energized within the same period but will begin full operations by early next year.
Meanwhile, the first 45 MW phase of the San Juan solar project in Botolan, Zambales is scheduled for energization by the fourth quarter.
EPI currently operates several power plants, including a 172 MW solar facility in Subic.
The company did not disclose investment costs for the projects.
Earlier, NAC reported a sharp rise in profits for 2025, with net income reaching P6.27 billion, driven by higher nickel ore production and stronger global metal prices. Revenue from ore sales also increased significantly.
NAC said it is accelerating its shift into a multi-resource company by expanding its renewable energy portfolio and exploring opportunities in gold and copper.
