Clean energy firm, online grocer partner with Nueva Ecija farmers

Clean energy company First Gen Corporation and online grocery platform SukiGrocer have partnered with four farmer and fisherfolk groups to help improve livelihoods in Pantabangan.

The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed last month by First Gen’s subsidiary, First Gen Hydro Power Corporation, SukiGrocer, and local groups: Cadaclan Farmers Association, Liberty Fisherman and Farmers Association, Maluyon Indigenous Christian Farmers Association, and Villanueva Farmers Association.

Under the agreement, the groups will work together on training, market access, and financing support to expand agricultural activities. FG Hydro will provide technical and coordination support, while SukiGrocer will connect farmers directly to buyers through its online platform.

First Gen said the initiative aims to strengthen host communities by improving production and increasing incomes. SukiGrocer added that direct market access can help farmers earn more by reducing middlemen.

FG Hydro operates the 132-megawatt Pantabangan-Masiway hydroelectric plant and is developing another hydro project in the area.

The partnership builds on earlier collaboration efforts and focuses on boosting farmers’ capacity, improving organization, and widening market reach. Local group leaders said the initiative could lead to higher production, better prices, and increased household income.
