The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Wednesday said electricity consumers may see slightly higher transmission charges in their April 2026 bills.
NGCP reported that the overall average transmission rate for the March 2026 billing period rose by 4.26 percent, from ₱1.6810 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in February to ₱1.7526 per kWh in March.
The company also said ancillary service (AS) charges—used to pay power providers that support the grid during supply-demand imbalances—increased from ₱0.8275 per kWh to ₱0.8516 per kWh.
NGCP clarified that it does not earn from AS charges, as these payments are passed directly to power generators and market operators.
The transmission wheeling rate, or the fee for using the power grid, also slightly increased from ₱0.6677 per kWh in February to ₱0.7022 per kWh in March. NGCP said this does not affect its income because its earnings are regulated and capped by the Energy Regulatory Commission.
The company added that most of the transmission cost still comes from ancillary services, which help keep the power system stable during fluctuations in electricity supply and demand.
