Philippine fuel supply good for over 50 days

The Department of Energy (DOE) said on Wednesday the country’s fuel supply is sufficient for more than 50 days, based on current inventories and expected deliveries.

Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said total supply is estimated at 50.31 days as of May 1, 2026, slightly lower than the 50.42-day level recorded a week earlier. The estimate covers gasoline, diesel, kerosene, jet fuel, fuel oil, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), using inventory data as of April 10 and scheduled deliveries from April 11 to May 1.

Fuel levels showed mixed changes during the period. Gasoline supply declined to 54.38 days, while diesel increased to 48.90 days. Kerosene dropped to 104.73 days, while jet fuel rose to 67.65 days. Fuel oil supply decreased to 45.96 days, while LPG improved to 36.27 days.

The DOE said additional supply is on the way. The government, through the Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC), has secured 22,000 metric tons of LPG, expected to arrive between the second and third week of May. More diesel shipments are also scheduled this month, including one expected within the week and another shortly after. Part of the diesel supply will be delivered to Davao to help distribute reserves more evenly across the country.

Amid global market uncertainty, the DOE said it continues to monitor fuel stocks closely. The agency has also ordered oil companies to report and make use of available storage capacity to ensure stable supply under the declared national energy emergency. Non-compliance may lead to penalties, including possible suspension of permits.

DOE officials added that ongoing global fuel disruptions highlight the need to shift to alternative energy sources, urging industries and businesses to begin transitioning as part of long-term energy security efforts.
