SMC Tollways profit rises in 2025 on higher traffic

SMC Tollways Corp. reported a 7.69 percent increase in net income to P705.2 million in 2025, driven by higher toll revenues as more vehicles used its expressways.

Total revenue reached P22.43 billion, up 6 percent from P21.17 billion in 2024. The company said the growth was mainly due to increased traffic volume across its toll roads.

Traffic at SMC Skyway Corporation rose 3 percent with average daily vehicles reaching 284,466 in 2025. Meanwhile, Skyway Stage 3 saw a larger 10 percent increase, with daily traffic climbing to 179,763.

Costs also went up during the year. Service costs increased by 4 percent due to higher government fees and spending on contracted services such as manpower and RFID management. Operating expenses rose as well, driven by higher taxes, management fees, and advertising costs, though partly offset by lower personnel and utility expenses.

Construction-related revenue and costs both grew by 11 percent reflecting ongoing projects including new ramps, road sections, and the widening of the Skyway.

SMC Tollways operates major elevated expressways in Metro Manila, including the Skyway system, which connects key areas from Makati to Alabang and links the South and North Luzon Expressways through Skyway Stage 3.
