MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) has unveiled Iloilo City’s first fully unmanned 30MVA substation, marking a major leap toward a digitized “smart” grid.
Equipped with an advanced Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, the facility can be operated entirely from a remote control center. Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) monitor load flow, voltage, and equipment health in real-time, allowing automated fault detection to isolate issues and restore power in seconds.
The SCADA-driven substation also acts as a “digital brain,” enabling predictive maintenance and data-driven forecasting to prevent overloads. By removing the need for on-site personnel in high-voltage areas, MORE Power boosts both safety and around-the-clock monitoring precision.
Engr. Wilmar Gonzaludo, PSPD Manager, credited the achievement to “long and meticulous planning, plus a deep understanding of the system that Iloilo consumers need.” The project marks a dramatic shift from the infrastructure the company inherited in 2020 toward a more efficient, future-ready grid.
Engr. Mark Anthony Molano, Substation Projects Manager, added, “Advanced technology exists, so why not leverage it? MORE Power is here to deliver the same high-quality service our consumers deserve.”
Despite the facility’s remote operation, on-site guards maintain 24/7 security, ensuring the substation remains both safe and resilient.
