President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered an urgent restoration of key transmission lines after recent power disruptions hit multiple areas across Luzon.
Following the President’s directive, the Department of Energy (DOE) instructed the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) to fast-track repairs and stabilize the grid to prevent further blackouts.
“Under the President’s order, the DOE moved swiftly to stabilize grid conditions and protect consumers,” said Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro.
Priority lines include the Tayabas-Ilijan and Dasmariñas-Ilijan 500-kilovolt (kV) transmission lines—vital arteries for Luzon’s electricity supply.
NGCP was also tasked with submitting a full technical and incident report to ensure accountability and a safe return of power to affected areas.
Meanwhile, the DOE is coordinating closely with power generators to safely reintegrate electricity into the grid and minimize disruptions for households and businesses.
To reinforce response efforts, the DOE mobilized the Grid Reliability Task Force alongside the Energy Regulatory Commission, Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines, National Transmission Corp., and PSALM.
