Persistent job mismatch and underemployment in the Philippines are pushing recruitment platforms and employers to adopt more targeted, technology-driven hiring solutions aimed at connecting workers with jobs that better fit their skills, career goals, and preferred work conditions.
While the country’s unemployment rate eased to 5 percent in March 2026, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed underemployment remained elevated at 12.3 percent, equivalent to around 6.03 million Filipinos seeking additional work hours or jobs more aligned with their qualifications and financial needs.
Against this backdrop, SEEK, parent company of Jobstreet and Jobsdb, launched its “Find Better Matches” campaign across six Asian markets, including the Philippines, underscoring a growing push toward AI-driven recruitment and personalized hiring.
The campaign reflects changing workforce priorities, with jobseekers placing greater importance on career fit, flexibility, and long-term satisfaction rather than simply the volume of available openings.
According to Jobstreet by SEEK’s latest Happiness Index Report, 55 percent of Filipino workers frequently consider changing careers, signaling rising demand for roles that support both professional growth and personal fulfillment.
At the center of the initiative is SEEK’s AI-powered matching technology, which analyzes millions of data points, including skills, work experience, and user behavior, to recommend jobs closely aligned with a candidate’s profile.
SEEK executives said the technology is designed to streamline hiring by reducing inefficient job searches and helping employers identify qualified talent faster through AI-driven suitability rankings and personalized recruitment tools, potentially easing long-standing labor market mismatches in the country.
