Manila Water has assured reliable, safe water supply across its East Zone service area even as Angat Dam’s water level drops below the 180-meter minimum operating mark and demand rises with school resumption on June 8. The company relies on a diversified raw water network to reduce dependence on Angat Dam, which naturally declines during dry months.
Key existing sources include Upper Wawa Dam and Tayabasan Weir, together delivering up to 710 million liters daily, plus Calawis Phase 1 (80 MLD), Cardona Treatment Plant (110 MLD), and East Bay Phase 1 (50 MLD)—the latter two drawing water from Laguna Lake. These supplies already boost service in growing parts of Rizal and strengthen system-wide stability.
Two more projects coming online by the third quarter will add 420 MLD more: the Wawa Kaysakat Project (220 MLD) and East Bay Phase 2 (200 MLD). With these buffers, Manila Water says no rationing or service adjustments are needed, though it still urges wise water use through its #WaterWais campaign.
