Success, it seems, runs in the family—and in the mountains of Ifugao.
Atty. Joan D. Adaci-Cattiling, president and general manager for external affairs and social performance of OceanaGold (Philippines), Inc. (OGP), has added another distinction to an already decorated career after receiving the 2026 Ifugao Achievers’ Award under the “Chief Executive Officer or its Equivalent” category.
The recognition was conferred during the opening program of the Province of Ifugao’s 60th founding anniversary celebration and Gotad ad Ifugao 2026, an event honoring Ifugaos whose achievements have elevated the province’s profile in business, public service, and other fields.
For Adaci-Cattiling, the award represents a full-circle moment. More than two decades ago, she was recognized by the province after placing among the Top 5 passers of the 2000 Bar Examinations. This year’s honor acknowledges not an academic achievement but a career built on leadership, community engagement, and responsible resource development.
In accepting the award on behalf of fellow honorees, Adaci-Cattiling likened the awardees to the intricate patterns of traditional Ifugao textiles.
“Each of us carries a distinct thread,” she said, noting that individual accomplishments gain greater meaning when woven together into a collective story of resilience, talent, and shared identity.
Her recognition also reflects a broader shift within the mining industry, where women continue to be underrepresented in senior leadership roles. Over nearly two decades with OGP, Adaci-Cattiling has championed stakeholder engagement, Indigenous Peoples’ empowerment, and community development programs alongside the company’s operations.
Among these initiatives is OGP’s Indigenous Peoples’ Culture Revitalization Program, which has trained around 450 participants in traditional dances, music, and cultural practices, helping preserve heritage in communities surrounding the Didipio Mine.
Adding an extra layer of distinction to the occasion, another member of the Adaci family was honored the same day. Retired Vice Admiral Toribio D. Adaci Jr., former Flag Officer in Command of the Philippine Navy and Joan’s brother, received recognition under the national-level positions category.
For Ifugao, the ceremony celebrated achievement. For the Adaci family, it was practically a sweep.
