Mynt payment app builds OFW marketplace for reintegration

The payment app of Mynt is set to launch a dedicated digital marketplace for returning overseas Filipinos, creating new livelihood opportunities and helping migrant workers

transition back into the local economy.

The initiative, forged through a partnership between Mynt’s GCash and the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), will establish a migrant-focused marketplace within the GCash app where returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and migrants can explore business opportunities, alternative income sources, and reintegration programs.

The platform is designed to address a common challenge faced by many returning Filipinos: rebuilding a stable source of income after years of working abroad. By combining entrepreneurship opportunities, financial services, and government support programs in a single digital ecosystem, the partners aim to make reintegration more accessible and sustainable.

CFO Chairperson Dante Ang II said the collaboration strengthens the agency’s support for Filipinos throughout the migration journey—from pre-departure preparation to eventual reintegration. He noted that financial literacy, digital savings, responsible investing, and long-term financial wellness have become increasingly critical as overseas employment continues to be a major economic lifeline for many Filipino families.

Beyond the marketplace, GCash will integrate CFO services into its platform, allowing users to access reintegration programs and financial management tools more conveniently. The partnership will also digitize payment channels for select CFO transactions and support the agency’s Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar, helping departing workers build digital financial skills before leaving the country.

The initiative signals a broader shift toward using fintech platforms as delivery channels for government services and economic empowerment programs. With millions of Filipinos living and working overseas, digital ecosystems are increasingly seen as cost-effective tools for extending financial inclusion beyond remittances and toward wealth-building and entrepreneurship.

GCash Head of International Transfers Julie Ann Abalos said the partnership reinforces the company’s goal of serving Filipinos wherever they are in the world, while helping returning migrants build stronger financial foundations at home.

The rollout will be implemented in phases through 2026.
