DITO Telecommunity Corp. has commercially introduced DITO Verified, a new authentication service developed with global provider Shush Inc. to fight rising digital fraud. This makes DITO the first telecommunications firm in the Philippines to offer a unified carrier-native verification solution.
The service works silently when users access banking apps, e-wallets or digital platforms via DITO mobile data. It confirms identity in 1–4 seconds through encrypted exchange between the network and SIM card, without sending passwords or one-time codes. This design means there is no information for fraudsters to intercept or misuse.
Powered by Shush Inc.’s Sherlock platform – already operational in over 40 countries – the system allows financial institutions to adopt the new method alongside existing OTP processes with minimal technical adjustments.
According to DITO chief commercial officer Adel Tamano, the service establishes the DITO SIM as the most trusted digital identity in the country. Shush CEO Eddie DeCurtis added that the partnership positions the Philippines as a leader in secure digital verification across Southeast Asia.
The rollout comes as regulators strengthen rules against financial fraud. DITO Verified fully complies with Republic Act No. 12010 (Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act) and BSP Circular No. 1213, which require banks and supervised institutions to use phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication. The solution provides financial providers an immediate, compliant tool to protect users and meet regulatory requirements.
