Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, Maynilad Water Services customers in the cities of Caloocan, Malabon, Manila, Navotas, Quezon City and Valenzuela will experience up to 11 hours of service interruptions.
But Maynilad gave assurance the estimated 591,000 households affected by the planned service interruption will be religiously observed and limited to the nighttime hours of 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. and up to 6 a.m. in some areas.
Padua appealed for the affected customers to store water only for their needs only on hours of the day when supply is unavailable as water tankers will also be deployed where needed.
Maynilad reminded consumers that resumed water service often results in some discoloration as normal consequence of service interruptions since the returning supply scours the naturally occurring mineral deposits inside pipelines.
Padua said Maynilad is also allowed to reactivate deep wells in 14 locations as the service targets to operate more than 60 such deep wells before the year ends.
Maynilad said the expected full operations of the P2.12 billion Anabu modular treatment plant in Cavite by September will provide additional relief as a dedicated supply source for customers in Imus.
The facility is initially producing 5.5 million liters per day (MLD) of potable water, enough to supply the needs of more than 13,000 customers. This upgrades to 16 MLD for 114,000 Maynilad customers by September.
