ERC extends pause on GEA-All collection until August

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has approved extending the temporary suspension of the Green Energy Auction Allowance (GEA-All) collection for billing months July and August 2026, to help lower electricity expenses amid current economic conditions.

GEA-All is a fee charged to consumers to pay renewable energy developers under the government’s Green Energy Auction Program. The suspended rate is ₱0.0371 per kilowatt-hour, and applies to all power distributors, suppliers, and the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.

Approved late Monday, the extension follows confirmation that the GEA-All Fund remains financially healthy. As of June 5, 2026, it held about ₱707.47 million — enough to cover payments to developers, including new facilities starting operations soon.

ERC said it balances consumer relief with protecting the fund’s stability to ensure timely payments to renewable energy providers. Officials will review the fund’s status thoroughly by August 2026 to decide if the pause should continue.

The regulator also warned that non-compliance with the order may lead to show-cause notices and penalties under existing rules.
