The National Power Corp. (NPC) has signed an agreement with the Sitangkai local government in Tawi-Tawi to supply solar power to remote island communities near the Malaysian border.
A total of 243 solar home systems will serve 1,774 residents of Panguan, Abdulingan and Saluag – the country’s last inhabited islands in the area. Each unit provides up to 12 hours of electricity, along with lights, a radio and other basic devices.
The project replaces reliance on small lamps and gas lights, delivering clean, reliable power to areas never connected to the main grid. NPC manages over 270 off-grid power facilities across the Philippines.
