Xendit integrates Dragonpay for regional expansion

Southeast Asian payments infrastructure provider Xendit has formally integrated Dragonpay Corporation, the Philippines’ pioneer in alternative payment solutions, building on a strategic partnership first established in 2021. The move combines Dragonpay’s well-established local payment network with Xendit’s regional platform, wider geographic reach, and ongoing technology upgrades.

With this integration, Dragonpay’s existing merchants gain access to Xendit’s full suite of services, including over 100 payment options, disbursement tools, cross-border transaction support, and financing solutions. This allows local businesses to accept payments more flexibly, streamline operations, serve customers outside the Philippines, and benefit from continuous improvements to platform security and functionality. Dragonpay currently serves 905 merchants and collaborates with 44 partners spanning banks, non-bank financial firms, e-wallets, and over-the-counter service providers. Both companies have committed to ensuring uninterrupted service, speeding up product development, and strengthening Dragonpay’s established presence in the country.

The announcement aligns with rapid growth in the Philippines’ digital economy, driven by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ national drive to shift toward digital payments. The combined strengths of Dragonpay’s deep local market expertise and Xendit’s regional scale will help businesses adapt to changing customer preferences while preparing for international expansion.

Xendit first invested in Dragonpay in August 2021. Founded in 2010, Dragonpay was the first provider in the Philippines to make online transactions accessible to millions of Filipinos without traditional bank accounts or credit cards, using channels such as online banking, e-wallets, and in-person payments at banks, convenience stores, and remittance centers.

“Dragonpay wrote the first chapter of digital payments in the Philippines. Bringing Dragonpay into Xendit gives Filipino businesses the best of both worlds: Dragonpay’s trusted local network and Xendit’s regional infrastructure, technology and growing cross-border capabilities. Our focus is to help Philippine merchants unlock more opportunities, serve more customers and scale beyond borders,” said Moses Lo, co-founder and chief executive officer of Xendit.

“We started Dragonpay in 2010 so that every Filipino, banked or unbanked, could take part in the digital economy. As part of Xendit, our merchants and partners can expect the same trusted local service, now supported by a stronger technology platform, broader regional capabilities, continued product innovation and robust security. This is the natural next step in a partnership that has worked from day one,” added Robertson Chiang, founder of Dragonpay.

This integration forms part of Xendit’s broader plan to build a unified payments network across Southeast Asia, following its full acquisition of Malaysia’s Payex in 2025 and market entry into Thailand in 2024. The company now operates across Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
