Laguna Water, part of Manila Water’s Non-East Zone operations, has strengthened its response plan and proactive measures to lessen the impact of El Niño and ensure consistent water service for all its customers.
General manager Constantine O. Uy said the company is closely watching supply levels and improving operations to keep services reliable amid shifting weather. Teams regularly check water sources, fine-tune system operations, and carry out maintenance to avoid disruptions. They are also pushing harder to cut non-revenue water and work with local governments and partners to act quickly if conditions change.
The firm draws water from groundwater, the Matang Tubig Spring, and the Laguna Well Field—one of the province’s biggest systems, capable of producing up to 100 million liters daily. It keeps a 20 percent reserve as an added safeguard. The new Canlubang Sugar Estate Bulk Water Supply Project, launched in 2025, adds another 17 million liters each day for Laguna communities.
Laguna Water also runs campaigns to teach customers to use water wisely, especially during dry spells, and carries out tree planting and cleanups to protect sources and boost groundwater recharge. Through these efforts, the company aims to deliver safe, steady water while staying ready for El Niño and other climate challenges.
