The Philippines is hosting the 13th ASEANTOM Annual Meeting from 11 to 13 August 2026 in Manila to strengthen ASEAN cooperation on nuclear safety, security and safeguards.
Held in hybrid format, the gathering brings together regulators, officials and partners. As chair, the Philippines will lead discussions, present project gains, report on its tenure, and share results from the 2026 ASEAN Nuclear Emergency Notification and Communications Exercise. It will also update on co-led working groups and steer adoption of outcome documents.
The delegation is led by DOST-PNRI’s Nuclear Regulatory Division, which will join the new independent Philippine Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority, or PhilATOM. Two sessions are dedicated to dialogue with the IAEA and other partners to align practices with international standards.
Delegates will exchange best practices on regulation, emergency response, security and stopping illicit nuclear trafficking. The Philippines will turn over the ASEANTOM chairmanship to Singapore at the meeting’s close.
Founded in 2013, ASEANTOM is the region’s key platform for nuclear regulatory cooperation.
