Mitsubishi Motors awards spotlight sustainable manufacturing

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) earned multiple honors at the GREEN Awards, underscoring how environmental sustainability is becoming an increasingly important priority for manufacturers facing pressure to reduce resource use and environmental impact.

Organized by the Santa Rosa City Government and its City Environment and Natural Resources Office, the annual awards recognize public and private organizations for contributions to environmental protection, climate action, and sustainable development.

MMPC received the Special Award of Recognition for Environmental Sustainability and Stewardship, Sustainable Development Award, Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Award, and Earth Hour Advocate award during ceremonies at the City of Santa Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex.

The recognition highlights MMPC’s efforts to integrate environmental considerations into manufacturing operations, extending its sustainability agenda beyond regulatory compliance toward more efficient energy and resource use.

For automotive manufacturers, the stakes are rising as the industry confronts pressure to reduce emissions and improve environmental performance throughout operations. Energy efficiency and renewable energy can also help manufacturers manage resource costs while strengthening operational resilience.

The awards also highlight the role of manufacturers in advancing local sustainability goals alongside government and communities. Santa Rosa officials emphasized that environmental protection requires sustained collaboration among businesses, government, and other stakeholders.

MMPC officials at the ceremony included Manufacturing Executive Vice President Manabu Higuchi, Manufacturing Senior Vice President Reynaldo Gabay, Safety, Health and Environment Vice President Marfel Ancheta, and Government Affairs Vice President Victor Vinarao.

The recognition reinforces MMPC’s sustainability efforts while underscoring a broader shift in manufacturing, where environmental performance is increasingly tied to operational efficiency, resilience, and long-term competitiveness.
