The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has restored electricity to nearly all customers affected by service interruptions caused by the enhanced southwest monsoon, or Habagat, across its franchise area.
Following round-the-clock restoration work, only about 2,800 customers remain without power — less than one percent of Meralco’s total customer base. More than 1,000 of these remaining outages are located in flooded areas, with most affected customers in parts of Metro Manila, Cavite, and Bulacan.
“Our crews and personnel continue to work tirelessly to restore power to every remaining customer. We thank our customers for their patience and for helping report outages in their areas, which allowed us to speed up restoration efforts,” said Meralco vice president and head of corporate communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga.
Meralco’s corporate social responsibility arm, the One Meralco Foundation, has mobilized employee-volunteers and begun preparing relief packs for families hit by heavy rains and flooding. The foundation plans to distribute assistance to affected communities in the coming days.
Customers may report power outages and related concerns through Meralco’s official Facebook page and X account (@meralco). They may also send text messages to 0920-9716211 or 0917-5516211, or call the Meralco hotline at 16211.
