Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGen) has begun commercial operations for 600 megawatts (MW) of MTerra Solar Phase 1 under its power supply agreement (PSA) with Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), effective August 26, 2026.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines issued its final approval to connect, certifying the facility can safely and reliably feed 950 MW of solar plus 825 MW of battery energy storage system (BESS) into the national grid. Inaugurated last July, the site already ranks as the world’s largest integrated solar-and-battery facility at a single location, with 1,373 MW of solar PV and 825 MW of BESS energized. An additional 250 MW under the same PSA will come online in the coming months.

Central to MGen’s renewable energy expansion, the full project spanning Nueva Ecija and Bulacan will reach 3,500 MW solar capacity with 4,500 MWh of BESS. Upon completion, it will cut an estimated 4.3 million tons of carbon emissions annually — equivalent to removing over 3 million gasoline vehicles from roads.
