Metro Retail Stores Group Inc. (MRSGI) is stepping up its engagement with micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), particularly sari-sari store owners and resellers, as it expands its Mareng EMS program with its first caravan in Mandaue City, Cebu.
Held at The Tent, Mandani Bay, the event brought small business operators together with participating brands and retail partners, offering access to product deals, promotions and direct supplier engagement.
Mareng EMS, or Enterprising Metro Suki, is MRSGI’s business-focused program for entrepreneurs who buy merchandise for resale. Members receive exclusive discounts, customized rewards and business tips aimed at improving purchasing power and managing operating costs.
“The Mareng EMS Caravan is more than just a gathering. It is a celebration of the hardworking entrepreneurs who share one dream — to grow their businesses, provide better for their families, and build a better future,” MRSGI President and Chief Operating Officer Joselito Orense said.
Orense said the program reflects MRSGI’s aspiration of “Every Member Sumakses or Sasakses,” highlighting the company’s effort to support the growth of its small-business customers.
The Cebu caravan featured product showcases, promotional activities, interactive games and opportunities for participants to engage directly with suppliers. Qualified members also received product samples and promotional items.
Beyond discounts and product promotions, MRSGI is positioning Mareng EMS as a platform for strengthening supply relationships with entrepreneurs who depend on reliable merchandise and competitive pricing to run their businesses.
The initiative comes as sari-sari stores and other community-based retailers continue to play a key role in the Philippine consumer market, particularly in neighborhood distribution.
For MRSGI, deeper engagement with these operators could also strengthen customer loyalty while expanding its reach among small-business buyers.
The company said the caravan underscores its broader strategy of positioning itself not only as a merchandise supplier but also as a business partner to community-based enterprises.
