PAGCOR-regulated gaming platform Buenas PH has launched a sports and wellness campaign aimed at promoting physical activity, digital moderation and responsible gaming among Filipino online gaming communities.
Implemented through Buenas Sports and Buenas Entertainment, the initiative brings together digital content creators, livestreamers and gaming personalities in organized sporting events designed to encourage healthier activities beyond online entertainment.
Kim Curayag, head of marketing at Buenas PH, said the campaign complements the platform’s existing responsible gaming safeguards by encouraging users to balance screen time with physical exercise and other recreational pursuits.
The initiative began with the Buenas Battle of the Streamers Pickleball Tournament, organized in partnership with gaming content provider Pragmatic Play. Local gaming personalities LENG, ForeignGerms, Boss Toyo and Hypebits participated in the competition, which offered a P1-million prize pool.
Buenas PH plans to extend the campaign through golf tournaments scheduled for October 28 and 30, followed by a nationwide fun run in November. The company said the activities form part of a longer-term effort to engage online gaming communities through sports and wellness programs.
Alongside the campaign, Buenas PH cited its player protection measures, which include Know-Your-Customer identity verification, data security protocols, daily deposit limits and voluntary self-exclusion options.
The initiative comes amid heightened scrutiny of online gaming operators over consumer protection, responsible gambling practices and the potential consequences of excessive gaming. While sports activities may provide additional opportunities for community engagement, their effectiveness in promoting responsible behavior will depend on sustained participation and the consistent implementation of player safeguards.
Buenas PH said the campaign is intended to reinforce responsible gaming practices while extending its engagement with users beyond its digital platform.
The rollout highlights how gaming operators are incorporating offline activities into their community programs. However, sports and wellness campaigns remain complementary measures rather than substitutes for effective safeguards, clear risk communication and accessible tools that help players manage their gaming activity.
