Aboitiz Power Corp. reported a 13‑percent increase in net income for the first nine months of 2026, reaching P26.2 billion from P23.3 billion in the same period of 2025, the company said in a disclosure filed Thursday at the Philippine Stock Exchange.
The company credited its improved earnings to better profit margins within its power generation business, fueled by higher prices in the energy market. Additional power supply from the Caliraya‑Botocan‑Kalayaan hydroelectric complex and newly‑operational solar facilities helped offset reduced availability from its coal‑fired plants during the nine‑month window.
Total energy sold by Aboitiz Power’s generation segment reached 35,105 gigawatt‑hours, a 9‑percent jump from the 32,138 gigawatt‑hours posted a year earlier. Its power distribution arm also saw higher sales, rising 8 percent year‑on‑year to 5,576 gigawatt‑hours compared with 5,167 gigawatt‑hours in the first nine months of 2025.
Earlier this April, the company and its partners set aside P62 billion in capital spending for 2026, down 47 percent from the P117.7 billion invested jointly in 2025. Even with the lower budget, the firm said it will keep focusing funding on its renewable energy pipeline and battery energy storage systems. Its current renewable project list includes 639.5 megawatts awarded during the fourth round of the Green Energy Auction last September, plus another 147 megawatts of renewable and battery storage capacity now under construction.
Based on latest figures from the Energy Regulatory Commission as of July 2025, Aboitiz Power holds the top spot in the country’s power generation sector with a 23.86‑percent national market share. The group’s long‑term growth plan targets adding 3,600 megawatts of new renewable energy capacity to reach 4,600 megawatts total by 2030. These clean energy facilities will work alongside its thermal power plants to meet the country’s steady and peak power demand, as the company aims to build an overall portfolio of 9,200 megawatts by that year. Beyond power generation, Aboitiz Power also serves consumers through distribution firms Davao Light and Power Co. Inc. and Visayan Electric Co.
