Filinvest Hospitality Corp., a unit of listed Filinvest Development Corp., has secured a 730-square-meter prime property in Baguio City that was offered in a bidding by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority and John Hay Management Corp.
The agreement for the six-year lease of the property within Camp John Hay was signed Tuesday at the BCDA offices in Taguig City.
Filinvest Hospitality plans to develop “The Hay Diner” at the newly acquired property adjacent to its Grafik Hotel Collection Baguio, currently under construction.
Designed by leading design firm Headroom, ‘The Hay Diner’ aims to optimize Baguio’s cool climate through passive cooling techniques, utilizing existing window openings, Filinvest Hospitality said. The design also prioritizes sustainability with features such as inverted air conditioning units, LED lighting, water-efficient fixtures, and low-VOC paint, it added.
“We envision ‘The Hay Diner’ as a valuable addition to Baguio’s vibrant restaurant scene, aligning with our strategy to expand both our hospitality portfolio and investment in food and beverage ventures,” said Francis C. Gotianun, first senior vice president at Filinvest Hospitality.
The project represents the commitment of Filinvest Hospitality to enhance tourism and economic growth in the country, complementing its existing portfolio that includes properties like Crimson Resort and Spa in Boracay and Mactan, and the Quest Hotels & Resorts across various destinations.
Camp John Hay Management Corp. expressed enthusiasm for the new dining experience, highlighting its contribution to blending modern comforts with the natural beauty of Baguio.
