AirAsia stoking the compulsion to travel among Filipinos with dirt cheap international, domestic tickets

AirAsia Philippines anticipates an increase in passenger traffic of over 30 percent in 2024 as it strengthens its domestic and international operations.

The budget carrier said it is looking to close 2024 with more than 8 million passengers, up 34.2 percent from 5.96 million domestic and international passengers last year.

To support the growth target, AirAsia Philippines is offering a one-way base fare of only P127 for travels beginning this week until 31 March 2025, for all destinations, including the airline’s newest offering – Nagoya, Japan.

“As a pioneer and leader in low-cost travel, we’re thrilled to turn our guests’ travel plans into a reality with our lowest fare offering in time for the long weekend when most Filipinos are expected to take advantage of,” AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs head and first officer Steve Dailisan, said.

“This latest offering is also ideal for those planning end-of-year holidays. We encourage our guests to take advantage of these offers to save time and money while planning future trips,” he added.

From January to August 2024, AirAsia Philippines has already flown more than five million guests – 85 percent of which were booked via its popular PISO Sale, and other low-fare promos.

AirAsia also sees the reduction of the fuel surcharge from Level 6 to Level 5 in September to have a huge impact on the public’s booking behavior.

At Level 5, the fuel surcharge is expected to reduce the cost of its international flights by P800 and domestic flights by another P542 on ticket prices next month.

“Filipinos are always on the lookout for discounts. Any budget saved from airfare can be used as an additional budget for hotels, restaurants, activities, or souvenirs,” Dailisan added.

AirAsia also reminds guests of the strict implementation of the cabin baggage policy that permits the complimentary hand carry baggage to only seven kilograms, which can be a combination of a small hand carry item and a backpack or small luggage.
