NKS Solar One and the National Power Corporation (NPC) have signed a memorandum of agreement kicking off a watershed reforestation initiative aimed at rehabilitating a three-hectare area in the Caliraya-Lumot Watershed. The event, held at Macquarie Group’s Manila office during its annual Foundation Week, highlighted a joint commitment to environmental sustainability.
Key figures from NKS Solar One, NPC, Blueleaf Energy Philippines, Macquarie Group, and local leaders from Brgy. East Talaongan attended the ceremony. The initiative, part of the Adopt-A-Watershed program, focuses on reforestation and sustainable ecosystem restoration to benefit local communities and the environment.
NPC president and CEO Fernando Martin Roxas emphasized the importance of the project, stating, “Reforestation is essential not just for restoring forests, but for safeguarding the water sources that are crucial to millions of Filipinos.” Christopher Chua, investment director at Blueleaf Energy Philippines, noted that the project aligns with their mission of promoting environmental stewardship.
Macquarie Group’s Philippines country head, Eric Yaptangco, reinforced the company’s commitment to sustainability, while NKS Solar One president Andre Pablo Fausto III highlighted their focus on innovation and positive environmental impact.
