A delegation from Misamis Oriental recently concluded a benchmarking trip to Aboitiz InfraCapital’s (AIC) LIMA Estate in Batangas, an industrial development renowned as the country’s first and largest 5-star BERDE (Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence)-certified estate. The visit, which took place from December 9 to 11, is aimed at providing insights from LIMA Estate’s best practices in sustainable development and its contributions to economic growth.
The group, led by Governor Peter M. Unabia and Vice Governor Jeremy G. Pelaez, toured LIMA Estate’s Experience Center and The Outlets at Lipa, learning firsthand about the innovative infrastructure and business strategies that have made LIMA a model for eco-friendly industrial zones. The delegation also included Provincial Board Members Robert de Lara, Rey Buhisan, Wayne Militante, Gerardo Sabal III, Dexter Yasay, and Provincial Administrator John Ladaga.
“We are honored to share LIMA Estate’s sustainable practices with the Misamis Oriental delegation,” said Cosette V. Canilao, AIC president and chief executive officer. “These benchmarking activities reflect our commitment to fostering collaboration with stakeholders and supporting regional growth.”
Misamis Oriental, home to Laguindingan International Airport, is poised for significant growth with AIC’s planned upgrade of the airport, scheduled for turnover in April 2025. The airport serves as a key gateway to three major manufacturing zones in the region: Jasaan Misamis Oriental Ecozone, Manticao Ecozone Corporation SEZ, and PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate.
With a sprawling 940-hectare footprint, LIMA Estate is not only the largest privately owned industrial park in the country but also a key driver of economic activity. It houses over 240 locators and employs more than 74,000 individuals. AIC’s broader economic estates network has generated P158 billion in investments and created thousands of jobs, including a projected 60,000 at the new TARI Estate in Tarlac.
AIC’s commitment to boosting local economies is also reflected in initiatives like the PinasBilis eBoss Package, a collaboration with the Lipa City LGU to streamline business processes and foster efficient local governance.
