As summer travel demand surges and long weekends approach, AirAsia Philippines urges travelers to remain vigilant against the growing incidence of travel scams online.
The budget carrier recently reported a rise in scammers impersonating legitimate travel agencies, using fake business registrations to deceive unsuspecting travelers into making bookings. These fraudsters often lure victims with seemingly irresistible deals.
AirAsia strongly advises passengers to avoid booking through unverified websites or social media pages, particularly those requesting personal details or offering deals that appear too good to be true.
In 2024 alone, AirAsia Philippines blocked 51 accounts linked to scams, demonstrating its commitment to enhancing fraud detection efforts.
“As technology advances, so do the tactics of scammers. We urge travelers to book flights only through airasia.com or the airasia MOVE App. To ensure the legitimacy of promotions or seat sales, passengers can cross-check via our official website,” said first officer Steve Dailisan, AirAsia Philippines’ communications and public affairs head.
AirAsia also reassures customers that they can still find affordable fares without resorting to dubious sources. The airline regularly offers promotions, with new deals often launching each week. This April, travelers will benefit from reduced fare surcharges following the Civil Aeronautics Board’s (CAB) adjustment to Level 4. This change means fees for domestic flights will drop by P117 to P342, while international flights will see reductions ranging from P385.70 to P2,867.82, depending on the destination.
As of April 2024, AirAsia Philippines operates flights to 12 domestic and 13 international destinations. The airline has been serving the Philippines since its launch as the fourth airline operations center of the AirAsia Group in 2012.
Travelers are reminded to stay cautious and book only through trusted platforms to avoid falling victim to scams.
