Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower) and its partners have earmarked P62 billion in capital spending for 2026, with most of the funds going to renewable energy projects and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Company president and CEO Danel Aboitiz said the investments aim to speed up the shift to cleaner energy while ensuring stable power supply.
The company’s renewable pipeline includes about 639.5 megawatts (MW) of projects awarded in the latest Green Energy Auction, along with 147 MW of renewable and BESS projects currently being built.
AboitizPower has significantly expanded its renewable capacity in recent years, growing from less than 1 gigawatt in 2020 to 2.3 gigawatts as of February 2026. This increase includes its acquisition of the 789-MW Caliraya-Botocan-Kalayaan Hydroelectric Power Plant complex in Laguna.
Other ongoing projects include battery storage facilities in Cebu and Agusan del Norte, with capacities of 30 MW and 48 MW, respectively.
In 2025, AboitizPower and its partners spent P117.7 billion on investments, including stakes in Chromite Gas Holdings and renewable energy developments.
The company remains the Philippines’ top power generator, holding a 23.86% market share as of July 2025, based on data from the Energy Regulatory Commission.
Financially, AboitizPower reported P79.6 billion in EBITDA in 2025, up 9% from the previous year, driven by new solar projects and higher contracted capacity. Its core net income reached P33.1 billion.
AboitizPower said it will continue expanding its renewable portfolio to help meet the country’s target of increasing renewable energy’s share in the power mix to 35 percent by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040.
